Garage Door Lubrication
You should lubricate your garage door every 6-12 months for several reasons:
Noise Reduction
A well-lubricated garage door operates quietly, minimizing squeaks and grinding sounds.
Prevents Wear & Tear
Regular lubrication can help extend the lifespan of the door and its components.
Improves Safety
A properly functioning garage door is safer, reducing the risk of malfunction.
Prevents Rust & Corrosion
Lubricating metal parts can protect against rust.
Enhanced Performance
Lubrication ensures the door operates efficiently.
See a step-by-step tutorial, below!
Step # 1: Grab a Lubricant & Microfiber Towels
Get a lubricant, preferably one specifically for garage doors, as well as microfiber towels.
Step #2: Shut Off Power to Garage Motor
Unplug your garage motor for your safety.
Step #3: Spray Torsion Springs
Spray a small amount of lubricant on your torsion springs & wipe it down with the microfiber towels.
Step #4: Spray Hinges
Spray all the hinges on the garage door with the lubricant but try and avoid getting any on the garage door tracks. Wipe down the hinges with a microfiber towel after spraying.
Step #5: Wipe Down Tracks
Wipe the garage door tracks with a wet towel (no lubrication).
Step #6: Run Garage
Turn back on the motor and run the garage door a few times to break in the lubricant.
