Resetting GFCI Outlets

GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets are crucial for electrical safety, especially in areas with high moisture, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor spaces. They work by detecting differences in the electrical current between the hot and neutral wires, instantly shutting off power if an imbalance is detected. This helps prevent electrical shock, fires, and other hazards that can occur if water comes into contact with electricity. GFCI outlets are a simple yet effective way to protect people from potentially dangerous electrical situations, making them an essential part of modern electrical systems.

See how to do it, including a video tutorial, below!

GFCI Outlets:

Tip #1: Red Light

The GFCI outlets will generally have a light on when the outlet trips.

Tip #2: Unplug Appliances

Unplug all appliances around that outlet and check for faulty wiring.

Tip #3: Reset Button

Hit that reset button when the outlet has tripped.

Tip #4: Continual Problems

If the outlets continues to trip, there could be an underlying electrical problem. Contact an electrician if this continues to occur.
